Frequently asked questions
A little clarity goes a long way.
Here’s what we can tell you today about Shutdown Hero, the early-access list, and the membership we’re developing.
What is Shutdown Hero?
Shutdown Hero is an independent company developing a membership service to help federal employees maintain financial stability when a government shutdown interrupts their pay. The program is still being developed.
Is the membership available today?
Not yet. Right now, you can join the early-access list. Membership enrollment and financial assistance are not available through this website, and a launch date has not been announced.
What happens when I join the early-access list?
We save your signup and show a confirmation on this page. We’ll email you when early access opens. Joining the list is free, does not enroll you in a membership, and does not guarantee eligibility or financial assistance.
Are you part of the government?
No. Shutdown Hero, Inc. is an independent company, not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government. Our mission focuses on federal employees and their households, and is politically neutral.
Who is Shutdown Hero being built for?
Our focus is federal employees whose normal pay can be interrupted by a shutdown. The interest form also welcomes responses from military personnel, contractors, Postal Service employees, and household members. Those options help us understand interest; they do not establish eligibility for the future membership.
What will it cost, and how will financial support work?
Membership pricing, eligibility, funding, payment amounts, and any financing or repayment terms are still being developed. We have not announced final program terms or financial partners. We’ll explain the details before asking anyone to enroll.
Why ask about my employment and pay?
Your email and employment type are required. Agency, state, approximate annual pay range, and shutdown pay impact are optional. These answers help us understand who we could serve and plan with future financial and program partners using counts and percentages, rather than individual responses.
Read our privacy noticeDo you need my bank details or Social Security number?
No. The early-access form does not ask for bank or card details, a Social Security number, identity documents, or payroll records. Please don’t email us those details either.
How can I contact you or leave the list?
Email hello@shutdownhero.com with questions or to request removal of your early-access signup. For removal, use the email address you signed up with so we can locate your signup. Every email we send to the list will include an unsubscribe link.
